THE HOTEL-RESTAURANT’S LOCATION
IN THE HEART OF THE CÔTE D'OPALE
LETS YOU DISCOVER
THE REGION'S UNLIMITED WEALTH.
Anyone who loves unspoiled landscapes will find the Côte d’Opale to be a stunning setting for activities in the great outdoors.
Revitalised by the salty sea air that gently sweeps along the coast, you'll be in the ideal mood for hiking (along GR 120 hike, for example), your steps guiding you alternately along wild coastlines, undergrowths, dunes, cliffs, or on sandy beaches.
An ideal walk for families looking to discover the Côte d'Opale and its rich biodiversity (please note, the route is not suitable for pushchairs). This trail begins in the estuary of the Slack (a small coastal river) and takes you from the beach to an observatory on the dunes, then crosses through a pine forest and a wetland area with more observatories to admire the local wildlife and flora.
Cap Gris-Nez offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding coastline. As the closest point to England, on clear days, you may even spot the white cliffs across the English Channel. The strait is an important hot spot for many species of migratory birds. Numerous hiking trails begin from Gris-Nez, which is considered a major site for conservation and observation of remarkable natural habitats.
Its neighbouring cape, Cap Blanc-Nez, offers an unbeatable view of the Côte d’Opale from the limestone cliffs, with a trail winding through the heathland or leading you down to the beach at the base of the cliff.
Did you know that Nausicaa, the largest aquarium in Europe, is located in Boulogne -sur-Mer?
A true conservatory of oceanic biodiversity, Nausicaa features rare corals, sea lions, massive manta rays, and a remarkable variety of species, offering an enchanting immersion into the magic of underwater worlds. A perfect tourist activity to captivate both young and old!
Wimereux, an authentic getaway on the Côte d’Opale where the sea meets the sky, is home to exceptional natural beauty. This charming seaside town, where our hotel is located, also boasts an architectural treasure trove. Here, half-timbered villas alternate with overhanging balconies, and many decorative details—friezes, wooden balconies, and more—adorn the facades.
You can admire nearly a hundred villas dating back to the turn of the century, showcasing pure Belle Époque and Art Déco styles. For those curious to learn more, the “Balade des Villas de Wimereux” (walking tour of the town’s must-see pieces of architecture) invites visitors to scan QR codes placed on the facades along the circuit to uncover the history of these architectural gems.
While Wimereux remains one of the Côte d’Opale’s gems, the neighbouring small seaside resorts also boast numerous attractions. Ambleteuse, a typical fishing village, enchants visitors with its charm and its fort designed by Vauban, built under the reign of Louis XIV.
A bit further north, you can explore Wissant, a picturesque fishing village, and enjoy its local farmers’ market held every Wednesday evening in high season. Finally, you’ll fall under the spell of Hardelot: a seaside resort with stunning Anglo-Norman homes from the Belle Époque era, dunes, and a vast sandy beach. Very often compared to Le Touquet, it is a destination full of character.
